Mountain Moxie is a Vermont women’s mountain bike racing team established in 2011 that strives to:
- Learn about ourselves and our environment through the pursuit of sport;
- Find camaraderie around and direct support for riding, training and racing;
- Support women’s access to and participation in the sport of mountain biking; and
- Hone technical skills, race well and contribute to the greater mountain bike community.
This team of women from Vermont ranges from seasoned mountain bike racers to women who want to try their first event. It also fills an important niche in mountain biking in Vermont.
Riding & Racing in Vermont
Our state boasts tremendous mountain bike resources: well-built and maintained trails by stellar trail advocacy organizations, local clubs and supportive public and private landowners; professionally-run mountain bike events; and, high-end recreation businesses supporting the needs of a sport described by the Vermont Department of Tourism as a critical economic driver in Vermont’s recreation tourism industry.
Also growing is the number of girls and women riding and racing. We believe that the missing link has been a structure to support them in challenging themselves in a racing environment and have the supports they need to be successful. This women’s bike racing team fills that void by providing racing camaraderie, technical skills building and opportunities to give back to the mountain bike community at large.
